Privacy Policy for ClaimGuard
Effective Date: May 18, 2025
ClaimGuard is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when using the ClaimGuard app, developed and published by Kenneth John Merenda II (DBA Kenneth Merenda).
1. Data Collection
ClaimGuard does not collect personal data from users. All information entered into the app — including photos, item details, and other inventory data — is stored securely on your device and optionally in your private iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit service.
We do not collect or store your data on any third-party servers controlled by the developer.
We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
We do not track your usage for advertising or analytics purposes.
2. Data Storage with CloudKit
If iCloud is enabled on your device, ClaimGuard uses Apple’s CloudKit framework to store and sync your data across your devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
You have full control over your iCloud data via your device settings.
3. Use of OpenAI for Object Recognition
If you are subscribed to ClaimGuard Premium Features and you use AI Object Detection or AI Label Scanner, ClaimGuard will send images you provide to the OpenAI GPT-4.1 API for the purpose of identifying and classifying objects. Use of AI Object Detection and AI Label Scanner are entirely optional and controlled by you.
OpenAI may temporarily process the images submitted. However, per OpenAI’s Data Usage Policy, data submitted via API is not used to train models and is retained for a maximum of 30 days for abuse monitoring.
You can read OpenAI’s full privacy policy here.
4. Developer Data Access
When you use ClaimGuard’s AI-powered features (such as object detection or label scanning), images you submit are temporarily processed by a secure cloud service operated by the developer (using Google Cloud / Firebase). The developer does not retain or store any of your data after processing. The cloud service securely forwards your image or text to the OpenAI API for analysis, and the results are sent directly back to your device.
The developer does not collect or store any personal or image data. Data is only used for real-time processing and never used for analytics, advertising, or profiling.
5. Your Rights
You control your data. You may:
Delete any item or image at any time
Disable iCloud syncing in your device settings
Decline use of AI features
Remove the app at any time
6. Children’s Privacy
ClaimGuard is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
